You deal with pregnancy and prenatal care. You know, you ultrasound babies in their mom's stomachs and check for birth defects and you also help deliver babies. It's basically care for the baby before the baby has to venture into Pediatrician territory.

They are a medical doctor (so they do have general medical training) who specialized in women's reproductive health.
Some of the specialists focus more on the women's health (gynecology), while others on the obstetrics side of things.

"Gynecology"- focuses on the woman's reproductive tract/hormones. You may see one for yearly check ups/pap smears/etc., or for a particular "womanly" problem, such as irregular periods or abdominal pain that you think may involve your ovaries/uterus/etc.

The "Obstetrician" part focuses on seeing a pregnancy through to delivery. They will be the ones to monitor the pregnancy and help deliver the baby at the end. They may also help with some of the post-delivery care of the mother.
