3x^3 - 15x^2 + 18x

Russian Peasant method doesn't work...

with the quadratic formula i get...
(15 +/- 3) divided by 6

but the problem asks me to factor.. not solve.. and plus it cannot be solved since the original problem did not equal anything

any ideas?

The quadratic formula gives you x= two somethings. The factors are then x-one something and x-the other something.

Back to RPM (russian peasant method). You factor out 3x, and remainng is x^2-5x+6. Even a Russian Peasant should figure out this is (x-2)(x-3).

Hello

Lets start with 3x^3 - 15x^2 + 18x.

Factor out the GCF: 3x(x^2 - 5x + 6)

This would be 3x(x-3)(x-2)

Hope this helps

Factor out 3x from the equation and you get 3x(x^2-5x+6) Then factor what in the parenthesis and you get 3x(x-2)(x-3)

3x( x2 -5x + 6)
3x(x-3)(x-2)

If you can finagle, the roots by looking at the equation you can apply the quadratic formula to the x2 - 5x + 6
and get for the equation to equal zero x=3 or x=2
which means that (x-2) and (x-3) are factors of your original expression

alright i can see that you can take out a 3X from this equation so your new equation would look like 3x(x^2-5x+6) then factor x squared minus five x plus s to be 3x(x-3)(x+2) there you go you can factor this problem

You can't use the quadratic equation on a 3rd degree polynomial.
factor out 3x:
3x(x²-5x+6)
Use the quadratic equation on the (x2-5x+6) term

First,factorise the 3x :
3x³ - 15x² + 18x=3x(x²-5x+6)
Do the further factorisation:
=3x(x-3)(x-2)
Final answer:3x(x-3)(x-2)

factor out the g.c.f. which is 3x
3x(x^2 - 5x + 6) now factor the trinomial
3x(x - 3)(x - 2)
can you see why the quad.form. gives 3 and 2
as answers?
