They didn't jump that far. Two weeks ago they were ranked 25th, last week they were ranked 20th, now they are ranked 12th this week. Michigan is one of the hottest teams in the country right now. This past weekend South Carolina, Virginia, Florida, South Florida, Kentucky and USC all lost, all of which were ahead of Michigan in the rankings. Michigan moves just ahead of them they would go from 20th to 14th. You have to let Michigan hop over Hawaii because of toughness of schedule (even though it technically isn't a part of the process). Texas struggled for a little over 3 quarters against a bad Nebraska team, so they hopped over them too. Michigan won easily with a backup quarterback and 2 backup running backs against a poor Big Ten opponent, but still a Big Ten opponent. I don't think Michigan will get run over by Ohio State, that is almost always a close game.

Michigan got out of the gate a little wobbly to say the least. The way they are playing now is completely different. It has just been one of those kind of years. The only thing Michigan has lost a shot at is the National Title. They could easily be the Big Ten champs. The Ohio State @ Michigan game will be an exciting one and if OSU should win, they would deserve to be #1.

Wow you beat Notre Dame, Eastern Michigan, Minnesota, Northwestern, and overratted PURDUE, and PENN STATE (must be a BIG10 thing to overrate teams).
Of course they are playing different now than then, but coukld they rewind the clock and beat Oregon now, ................NO!
They schedule they are playing says it all, come BOWL time I doubt the BIG10 wins more than 2 bowl games combined, as a conference. I agree that jump was for 2 reasons, to make the MIchigan vs Ohio St game seem relevant and to help Mike Hart win the Heisman after setting michigans all time rushing record!
I hate the politics in college football.

GO BLUE!!!
No, Michigan moved up the rankings because we won two games straight without Henne and Hart AND because we are now on a 7 game winning streak (not too many teams can say that now... I think only three or four ranked teams can actually say that they're doing better right now). Michigan's football team has proved themselves and are sooo far from that first game. As far as rewinding time back to Oregon? Hellz yeah we could beat them now.
Keep hating, it makes us greater! <33

Well actually they were ranked 20 before Minnesota and I don't know if they take this into consideration when they do the rankings but they beat both Illinois and Minnesota without Mike Hart and with their backup quarterback, who is a true freshman.
Also Ohio state is going down when they come to the big house.

Less because they beat Minnesota, more because they beat Minnesota handily without Hart and Henne while 10 top 25 teams lost.
Edit:And what RB said below.

This is actually just to comment on BIGBLUE's answer...1 loss and out of the top 25 all year??? Do you think there are seriously 25+ undefeated teams left every year? LOL

I guess you think Kansas should be? If the other undefeated's had the history that Ohio State does they would be up there too. However they dont. Enjoy!

with a couple of exceptions, the polls are a joke.
as far as I am concerned, they lose a little more credibility, every year. one loss and, You should be out of the top 25 for the rest of the season.
