If you don't want to be the executrix, contact the court and ask to be removed or at least find out what the proceeding you'll have to go through to be removed.

The simple answer would be to deal with the will, take what he left you and move on; however, it's not always that easy hon. If he has a significant other, or children that may benefit from his passing, and you have no interest in it, then sign over your rights as executor to them and walk away with peace of mind.
Sometimes doing the right thing allows us to find peace in these situations. I'm sorry for the loss.

Chances are, he also named an alternate. In any case, check with a local attorney, but in my state you are under no obligation to serve. You can (in most states) decline to serve if you don't want to act as Executrix.

That just means you have to divide his stuff up according to his will or evenly among immediate family members and you get a 10% cut. However your divorce is grounds for removal as executor if his family wishes to pursue. If minor children are involved then this changes things a bit.

You can't be the executrix. Law says that the administrator of the will cannot benefit from the will. As it stands you automatically inherit according to law.

You could just hire a lawyer to do it for you and pay him out of the estate so you don't have to deal with it. Good Luck

That's simple. Follow his wishes., there's not much else you can do about it. he's gone and his estate needs to get settled. Just think, it's the last time you will ever do anything for him
