After getting up at 5 in the morning for several morning, you'll be sleepy enough at night to fall asleep quickly. If you're an insomniac like me, sometimes you need a little help. I don't take prescription meds either, as I don't believe in a lot of them, but I do take melatonin, which is a natural sleep aid. It doesn't knock you out or make you groggy the next day. All it does is relax you and release a lot of the daily tension. You can get it at any health food store. A warm bath before bedtime is helpful, and so is a half turkey sandwich and a glass of milk, both of which contain tryptophan, which is a natural sleep inducer. The person who told you to turn off the TV and computer is correct. They do stimulate you to wakefulness. If all else fails, try reading a really boring book. You'll be falling asleep in no time. Good luck! ZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

I'm not sure these will work for you, but one or the other always works for me.
One of the things I do sometimes is I lay very still in my most comfortable position in bed. I clear my mine of the days crap. I start at my toes and imagine my toes being at ease and relaxed. I move slowly from my feet up my body relaxing in my mine every inch, my legs, hips, back arms, fingers, shoulders, neck, and my head. I concentrate on letting my body sink into the mattress, all the time breathing slowly and keeping my eyes closed. Most of the time I fall off to sleep before I get to my head.
My other method is simply reading a relaxing magazine or book.
Good luck & sweet dreams

I'm anti-pills when it comes to my insomnia.
Try turning off the tv and computer a couple of hours before going to bed. There is research out there that says that the light from the tv and the computer stimulate our brain and make it harder to go to sleep.
I've tried hypnosis and brain re-training to cure my insomnia. The brain re-training downloads were very helpful.
