i am 34 weeks....
Had sore nipples the last couple of weeks,
Noticed a tiny bit of flaking,
So scratched off dead skin (gently of course) ,
Massaged a little vaseline to prevent same occuring,
Some clear fluid seeped out,
And then a bright yellow (and i mean bright) fluid came out also.

I am guessing this is colostrum..... But everywhere i've read says its a whitish/yellow.

It scared me when i saw it.... never thought it would be that bright!

Colostrum is very yellow and thick. It lasts from pregnancy leaking (towards the end) until about four days postpartum. When your milk comes in, usually around the fourth day or evening after having your baby, it will be very white. Almost bluish white. Anyway, it's normal. Don't worry.

I helped my wife through our three kids. I'm assuming this is your first, although you didn't say it.

From everything you said, it sounds like colostrum. Colors vary although I agree it could be a bit unusual for bright yellow. Provided you're not aware of any pain or any current inflamation, I wouldn't worry. Give your obgyn a quick call and double check. Sounds like pre-lactation to me.

Good luck with the baby!

cheers

Most likely this was colostrum.... it's sort of yellowish... I'm sure it's different from one person to another... the description you read is probably a generality....

Colostrum can be clear, yellow, or white in color. i read this somewhere when my colostrum came in. i'm sure everything is fine. if it gets bad use breast pads if it stains your bras and to keep them dry

Yep. Normal. Leakage at this point can be clear, off white, even that yellow colour you're talking about. Normal. Relax. :)

Mine looked like warm corn syrup (ie thinner than room temp corn syrup). It was relatively yellow. I had to pump to start so I know exactly what it looked like *lol*

It wasn't opaque or milky AT ALL.
