Taylor must find her killer and even if already dead, must bring the remains back to the house to be buried in the tunnel where the note was found....
OR

Taylor must find her killer and be tricked into being brought back to the house in order for the girl to get her revenge which turns into your 2nd book of more twists and on the edge of your seat book because now he's going to try and kill Taylor now that he knows what she's up to....
but the ghost of the girl saves her.

Sounds creepy but aren't most mysteries?

begin a criminal investigation that involves studying the history of the family in order to find out what the motive was for killing this girl. The truth surrounding her death must come to light, and justice must be done. Then Taylor makes an amazing shocking discovery ... it was one of her ancestors, falsely accused of the deed, but rather than implicate his lover, took the blame ... now Taylor has two mysteries to solve. ... finish it quick before it gets any more complicated ... lol

How does it end, well, your story sounds really typical but I would say something like she notices the old gardener looks like the man who killed her and he is really the man who killed her's great grandson who has been setting fires around town as well so the girl Taylor has to kill the old gardener with an old letter opener that was next to the secret letter that bears the family crest on it, if you accept this and your book gets published I'd like royalties or at least an acknowledgement ha,ha!

Try to make the ghost girl Crossover, that or maybe the ghost girl doesn't know how she got murdered so she must figure out what happened before she can be released. Make it a long process finding out clues here and there. Also, freak her out she sees the report, then a shadow moves behind her. that's cool

...Taylor must embrace her greatest fear: fire. She comes to believe that the fire which consumed her home was the work of the spirits who brought her here. She learns that the poor girl who dies was kept a virtual prisoner by her stepmother, who had an obsessive fixation on her jewels, which she kept locked in a small jewelry box. The stepmother forced the poor girl to polish her jewels while she told her that of course she would never wear them, as they would only go to the woman's own daughters, which she would have as soon as she met the right man. The poor girl dies a horrible death, and the only way Taylor can set her free is to find the jewel box and throw it in the fire. But first she must overcome her own desire to possess such beautiful, glittering, valuable jewels for herself.

well, of course the dead will not rest until the murderer is exposed. What you don't know is that he knows what you must do. So he will you many ruses to trick you and if needed he will kill you too. Fight Taylor fight. Trust no one but the ghost. She will lead you and protect you.

hope this helps

I need to give this to my students. We just started mysteries too. The typical response to end this is that you must solve her murder to lift the curse. Hope that helps a bit.

1) solve the old murder, figure out who did it so the young girl can rest and the killer was her father!

2) destroy the house because the house is built on the burial ground of an ancient enlish family who can not rest until this house is gone
