Is Brett Favre dying or retiring?

Don't get me wrong, the guy is a top 5 QB of all-time, but this ESPN lovefest and prior Madden lovefests, focusing on how hard his personal life has been, is getting a bit out of hand.

Most of the world will have a dead parent in their life and will lose a spouse at some point. His wife is a survivor, thank God, so why must Boo-ya network and Madden continue to celebrate what Brett Favre 'has overcome'?

There were untold praises for Criag Biggio in the last half of the baseball season once he announced his retirement. If you'll think back, Marino and Elway were also, for want of a better term, fawned over at the end of their career.

Perhaps it's human nature: we don't want to see our sports heroes get older and retire, partly because it means WE'RE getting older.

I can agree with you on some extinct. Truth is, I think things that has happened in here personal life and made him a better QB It has brought some awareness to the NFL such as the breast cancer situation. before that, the NFL wasn't wearing pink towels or whatever. They have help raise a lot of money to fund raiser because of his name alone. at times it's annoying but it is also heart warming.

Favre is a really great guy, fun to be around and liked by most everyone. It's especially hard to see how life has treated him and everyone around him harshly.

If they didn't like him, they probably wouldn't talk about it as much as they do.

they're butt kissers? i think they should talk about jay cutler some more, he's comming up pretty well. i do respect brett favre though, he's been playing as long as i can remember. they tend to only talk about the "best" player/team in the game until that person/team gets outdone by the other team, then they change their tune. i hate when they do that.

That personal stuff they do on TV--like when the camera zooms in on a player's family, or they talk about their dead family member, or anything else meant to stir the affective domain of our psyche--is such a pantload. I hate all that crap. I want to see the game, and hear some insight, not a bunch of sappy, crappy drivel. It has no bearing on the action and is of monumental disinterest. Play the game, show the game, and talk about the game, or STFU!
