Goto the public library, sign up your time. You get the computer for free for whatever you are allowed to use it.
Actually, you may check on the people around especially those heavy users. They may have some older PC still in a pretty good shape to give away.

Yeah if you find any place that does that let me know,, could always use the parts..

Maybe @ Charaties, Events that give out free stuff, Fund raisers that give out prises, HMMMM really not to sure.

I've heard that you can get free laptops by going to this web-site, but basically that is a scam anyway.

Rule of thumb:::Nothing is really free, and if it is, It will probally be a paper weight

As many times as the saying is frown upon, there really is no free lunch. if what you're looking for is just your basic 1997 era Pentium II 300, 192 MB of ram, 4 GB hard drive and Windows 98, then a lot of people would be willing to get rid of one. that's just about it. A more modern rig would be damn near impossible. you can look to sweepstakes and contests, and that's your best bet. you could get one for cheap if you ask your local police station if they have confiscations up for sale. yard sales are good too, whatever it is you'd use it for, best of luck in finding it!

Freecycle (dot) org and sign up for groups in your area. It's for people giving away the stuff they don't want instead of throwing it in the landfill.
It's not goning to be new, and if you ask for a new one, you'll just look like a cheap beggar. If it was a new one, good enough to sell, they would be trying to sell it on Craigslist (dot) org, with also has a free section

hmm.... you can steal one.. but wait no thats illegal.

you can probably find one from like 1975 for free. first computer ever. or maybe from 1980.

OR

you can win a contest.

those are the only ways you will ever get a free computer.
