Hiccups are caused by contractions of the diaphragm muscle. There are many so-called cures for them, and some work and some don't. My time-honored method is to drink water or hold my breath. Another method is to breathe in a paper bag so you inhale carbon dioxide. Some people say you can scare hiccups away by being startled. My daughter swears by drinking water from the opposite side of the glass. No doubt you will get many suggestions here. Good luck!

Hold your breath for as long as you can. Some kind soul on the internet gave me that advice once and it worked great (I had been going for well over an hour). Now it works for me every time on 1st or sometimes 2nd try.
