Why are pro sports players idolized for merely doing what they're being paid to do?

What's so special about the fact that they're capable of doing what they're paid to do?

I agree with you 100%. They should be glad anyone wants to even pay them for playing with a ball.
It's not like they are saving lives or inventing something good for society.They are way overpaid and too many young people look up to them when most of the players are only cabable of playing games.They would most likely never amount to much in the "real' world.

Think about it! People idolize Actors/Actresses, Music Entertainers, Models, etc... as well. It's an EASY way to make a living though, isn't it? I wish my life was that easy. Don't you?
