I have two friends whose son's are named Dylan and Dillon spelled each way. Either works, its just which one you prefer. Personally, I prefer Dylan. (I do believe though that Dylan is the preferred way to spell it if you are naming a girl.)

Depends on which name you want to use. Despite a comment I noticed stating you should use the "correct" spelling, these are two separate, although similar, names. Apparently they weren't familiar with that, but Dylan is a Welsh name meaning "great sea," while Dillon is a traditional Irish one meaning "streak of light" (related to the Gaelic word of the same meaning) or "faithful; loyal." It is occasionally confused with more-familiar Dylan, but the two aren't even intended to be pronounced exactly the same (though I realize they sound very close if you aren't Welsh or Irish).
I prefer Dillon both for its slight departure from more popular Dylan and for its meaning and origin (for somewhat obvious reasons). ;)
But really, it just depends on which name, meaning and origin appeals to you. Either is quite "correct," however, so don't let uninformed comments sway you. ;) Hope that helps!
Edited to add: I stand corrected. Make that quite a few uninformed comments. LOL Still, I'd never allow others' ignorance to keep me from using a very real, properly spelled name if I truly loved it. Dillon is not a "weird" or even "creative" spelling of Dylan. It's a name in its own rite ... and quite an old, historic, attractive one at that. Just because others aren't aware of that simple fact doesn't make it any less so. ;)
