i got this 100% cotton crochet knit hoodie from pac sun... and on the care tag it says to machine wash in cold water and then dry flat... but i was wondering would putting it in the dryer damage it?
there's a very similar hoodie at forever 21:
http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=sweaters&product%5Fid=2041623279&Page=1#
and for this hoodie it says to tumble dry low.
so what could happen if i put my hoodie in the dryer? would it collect those little fuzzy balls on it? or something worse?
thanks for your help. =]

i just found the link to the hoodie i have (if this helps):
http://shop.pacsun.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&productId=73168&parentCategoryId=10002&categoryId=31060&pageNumber=-1&sortBy=0
i know in the description it says machine washable, but it's the drying i'm worried about.

If you really don't want your hoodie to get wrecked wash it in a large mesh lingerie bag in cold water. Lay it flat on a towel and gently stretch it back to shape. Do not put it in the dryer and it will most likely shrink not in width but shorter by as much as 2 or 3 inches.

depending on the type of yarn that was used to knit/crochet it, it could shrink greatly. I crochet and i always hand wash my crochet items and then hang them on the shower rod to dry, unless it is a big blanket or something then i take it to a dry cleaners.

do you have an 'air dry' cycle on your dryer? no heat!! your hoodie will shrink!!!
