The Montreal Dynasty that ran from 1950-51 to 1978-1979 is my choice
- 25 times finishing 1st or 2nd overall
- 28 playoff positions
- 16 Stanley Cups in 29 seasons
- 21 Stanley Cup Finals in 29 seasons
That's a dynasty!

1955-56 through 1959-60
But, they played in 10 consecutive Stanley Cup Finals from 1950-51 through 1959-60

Pre-expansion, the 55-60 Canadiens. Hard to argue with 5 straight Cups.
Post 1967 expansion- 75-79 Canadiens, followed by the 80-83 Islanders, and 84-88 Oilers(4 out of 5). These three teams dominated the NHL for a 13-year period. With all the teams now and even winning two in a row becoming more difficult, I don't think we will see that kind on dominance again.

Oilers from 83-90 with the Great one, Messier and Kuri not to mention Fuhr. Other mention would be the Canadians from the 50's into the 70's.
Edit:
To the answers below... I do mention the Canadians just for those facts but they only had 6 teams in the league and it is hard to compare.

1950-1955 (did I get the years right, LITY?) Montreal Canadiens. Five straight Stanley Cups under Maurice Richard. Something that Gretzky, Jordan, Ruth, nor Brady has ever done (ever will do for Brady's case).
Ah...that ten consecutive Finals part, I did not know. Thanks.

I have to agree with LITY. The Habs had a perennial dynasty.
