I believe what you are asking is how does PRBT (Personal Ring Back Tone) work. If they call you, instead of a ring, they hear a song, that you choose.

PRBT is a 3rd party application (We use Sun servers).

Basically during call set up, 1 step is added to interrogate the PRBT server. So when tone would normally be sent back to the phone (the ring you hear) instead the PRBT sends the music.

If you would actually like the breakdown of how the call setup and tear down is done with PRBT let me know.

It's a hold/ring feature offered with T-Mobile, and Verizon. You can select the song people hear, or you can select the default.

When people call you, they will hear music instead of ringing! It's kind of cool!

Simply call your carrier, and tell them you would like the music ringing instead of the regular. I think it might cost you an extra 2-5 bucks though... but it definately adds personality to your communication style!

it's called a ringback tone! I think you have to have Verizon, but I don't know, maybe not. Call your cell phone provider

It's called a "ringback" tone and you need to order it through their website. I believe both Sprint and Verizon (I know Verizon does) have them.
