so one of my friends told me that over the weekend she went to philly to see her grandfather who is rapidly dying. she said that she thinks that he will last 2 weeks. she got really upset.
i gave her a hug and told her if there is anything i can do to help she should tell me, but what else do i do?

you are not god... you can't do miracle.

but as friend... it's best to stay by her side. give her comfort & hug her when she needed.

you did exactly the right thing. you didnt say anything flat. yeah you for not saying anything like. it will be ok. youll get through this. even though it seems logical they dont like to hear that. it does not help. continue to let her know that anything she want to share with you wont be judged, and any time shes ready to talk your there., if shes not thats ok too

just keep on comforting her and tell her that everything is going to be alright. and if she is having a tough time dealing with it that you will be there by her side at all times.
