i have a love for video games and i remember all the fun i had with the first halo being such an amazing shooter that it was, but now halo 3 just proves how far a game can fall through sequels to the point that i just want to throw it out. Now believe me i dont suck at it i even reached captain with 33 skill in wolves so im not complaining becasue i lost a game or something i just think its so overappreciated and it sucks the attention away from good games that need more players - if all the 11 year olds i here on xbox live could refrain from even replying to this topic that would be great thanks :)

The hype sold the game, same with the pirates of the caribbean movies. Their are alot more worthwhile games, such as hlaf life, C&C3, etc, that actually improve on critical thinking skills and stufflike that, rather than mindlessly shooting aliens.

Indeed, the whole series is overrated...by a lot. But people will always want a.) things they _perceive_ as "new" while, at the same time, not having it change TOO much, lest they feel it is no longer the game they loved in the first place. The "Halo" franchise is no different. Cool at first, now just retread at best.

It's the same reason stars that really aren't any different from role to role (think Jack Nicholson), or bands whose songs all sound the about the same (think Nickleback) hit it so big. Note, there is nothing wrong with liking a particular style, be it in a singer, actor, or game. However, there are those few who begin to feel like, "Meh, it all tastes like beans," and while all the over-hype goes on, they are left to pine for something truly novel.

I agree. Although Halo 3 is in my opinion an entertaining game, i think the hype sold the game rather than the game. Even though the graphics are sweet, its like the same games as Halo 2 with better graphics.

i agree with you that halo 3 is over rated. i dont play video games that much but i know a lot of people who talk about it non-stop.

Yes, in every way. Story, graphics, controls response, voice overs, physics, originality. You name it and there's something else out there that's better.

Not that it isn't a great game, but it is a bit overrated.

BIOSHOCK + ORANGE BOX = WIN
