I'm in Missouri, so i don't know if it could survive independently. I used to live in Illinois, it could possibly survive.

Yes. California has the 7th largest economy in the world. We grow more food here than any other part of the world per acre. Food is the largest exported crop so we won't go hungry. Unfortunately, except for the universities ( which have as many as 50% of the student body from OUTSIDE the USA ) the schools here are terrible. We make cars and trucks here ( Toyota ) and have way too many of them. We also make gasoline, and lots of oil fields, harbors and ports, tons or airports so you can fly here and visit Disneyland, and everything else.

California -- yes. We have enough agriculture and industry here to provide most of the needs internally. The biggest limitations are power and water -- and that would just force the state to use other energy sources.

New Hampshire -- probably. The population is small enough, and there is enough agriculture to sustain the people. Tech level would probably drop significantly (in the cities) because there isn't a lot of manufacturing at the high end -- but for huge sections of the state, very little would change.

Not even Texas could survive, it would be run over by the Mexicans. There are some people that are calling for secession of certain states but that would never happen. That is what started the civil war.

I live in Oklahoma, it was one of the last states to be admitted into the union, in 1907. It's celebrating it's centennial this year. It could survive, but would stil have to depend on commerce with other states or "countries".

A state can exist independently if the people voted for independence and when allowed by the union. It can have self-government and can raise its own revenues through taxes.

Yup. Got everything we need right here in Florida. Plenty of military, a space program, tourism (for money), plenty of exports (though we would need many imports), plenty of industry PLUS we have The Rock and Sylvester Stallone!
