is tourism worth taking at university?

i want to own tourism related companies, and i'm definitely taking commerce. do i have to take tourism? i honestly think it's a waste of money, on a subject you can just go and experience by traveling or by checking out tourism businesses, and you'll probably learn the most from that.

I would take the course if I were interested in the tourism business.
