I do think you can move on and have a good life. That's kinda like losing someone you care about in death. They aren't there any more but you still think about them. Put the memories in a special place in your heart and keep them there.Smile sometimes when you think about them. You can't let that interfere with your future. Its waiting for you.

If that's the case, there will probably always be a little part of you that will always care for them, but if things didn't work out, they didn't work out. You just have to move on. The pain will lessen with time. Surely there will be a man out there who will embrace your heart and in the right time and circumstances.

So...you want to know if you can ever get over someone you truly loved?
Let me be frank. Just to show you that it wasn't all dollars and cents. That I'm not a hard-hearted guy.
She was beautiful. She was everything. She was the best piece of tail that I ever had. And I've had 'em all over the world. And then along comes Johnny Fontaine, with his olive oil voice and guinea charm.
And she runs off with him. She threw it all away to make me look ridiculous. And a man in my position can't afford to be made to look ridiculous.
Now you get the hell out of here. And don't even think of trying any rough stuff. Cause I ain't no bandleader.

Circumstances beyond your control....i dont quite understand that part. If it wasnt a major catastrophe...if it was
"true love" ...then not many circumstances would break the relationship. It is common for people to break up and then romanticize the realtionship and the reasons for the breakup.

I think from past experiences that over time it lessens, but doesn't completely go away. But when you find a new love they fill that void and you no longer what or need that person. I'm not saying that tomorrow if you met someone and dated all would be healed, but over time the heart heals, and then you're ready to love again it just fills the void.

Even though you will probably always care about that person, since things didn't work out the best thing to do is to move on. It'll be hard to lose feelings for a good person but you know what is best for you.

That 'time heals all wounds' is rubbish to me.
I've loved and I believe that true love never fades unfortunately. It's just put on hold. Even after a long time, a simple smell, sight, touch can remind me of him and brings back emotions that brings tears to my eyes.
But yes, you can move on. You can live your life and be happy. But to be honest, I still think about how it'll be if I were with him.

Yes, you can actually stop loving someone and they become a distant memory, because you move on. Its very difficult to do this but it does happen. You keep yourself busy and stop thinking about that person. Time heals all.

they will always remain in your heart, but u do move past it, when u meet the love of your life and than u realize that there was a reason it didn't work out with that one.
