There is no alternative name.

Attorney or lawyer or counsel -- those terms are largely interchangeable -- or solicitor in some countries.

Also remember -- "plaintiffs" only exist in civil cases -- the parallel role in a criminal case is the prosecutor -- but that's not an "alternative" name because there is no plaintiff in criminal case.
