Sure! I've done it myself, when someone proved a point I was opposing. It's called having an "open-mind" and listening to people on different sides allows one to make a more intelligent opinion. Politically, I am a Democrat because that platform is aimed to benefit the majority of the people. However, I do not support capital punishment or abortion, which is my own independent thinking.

No, I have not. I just decided that there is, as I read lately, no winner in an argument, and that I am just not good at those sort of things anyway. Besides, part of being honorable is staying away from arguments.

Usually, however -- the point of the debate it to explore different options and perspectives -- my goal is rarely to "change" anyone's mind -- it's more often just to understand their position and perspective, and help them to understand mine.
