If not, he should be. He is what sports is all about. (Or at least what sports was all about and should be again!)

Michael Jordan? I said greatest and most beloved, not over-hyped and overrated. Tiger Woods? A golfer? Surely you jest!

Collegew - does not know football. Favre played the only way you can play when you have a lousy team and still try to win. He took impossible chances with receivers that were always new.

Most beloved athlete? What about Tiger, Jordan, Ripken, Jeter, Arnold palmer, Babe, Montana, Jack Nicholaus, Bird, Duncan to name a few.
You are right that he is what sports are all about. He is an excellent athlete that changed his sport just as much as any other athlete did (accept Jordan & Tiger). Everyone keeps pointing to his career TD's as something amazing, but to me it is not EVEN close to his most amazing record. Games started without missing one! It is over 220 games, that to me is one of the 5 greatest feats of all time!!
He is not beloved by America atleast not to the point of how he should be. There are many reasons for this such as playing in a small market, his personality is not endearing, he stays out of the big lights accept on the field, he has been overshadowed for atleast 5 years (Manning and Brady).
So to answer your question no he's not the most beloved, should not be, and i assume he doesnt want to be. But he deserves a lot more love than he gets, because to me he is one of the 5 best football players of all time and one of the 20 best AMERICAN athletes of the last 100 years!!
Tiger Woods, just a golfer? You want to know something what is Brett Favre, thats right just a fooball player. What are all athletes thats right just athletes. Golf is listed a sport and trust me Tiger is one hundred times more loved than Brett Favre ever was. Want to know something else Tiger is atleast 10 times better at his sport than Brett Favre is!!
That is saying alot since like I said Brett is one of the top 20 athletes of the last 100 years.

I really thought this was a good question coming from a intellegent sports fan , but after reading your additional statements I realized you are nothing more than a dillusional Packers fan that thinks the world will end when Favre retires!! Jordan over rated, what are you talkiing about, you can't over rate perfection and that is what he was for atleast 8 years!!
How can you sit there and make fun of Ali, for his beliefs and get pissed off when someone call FAVRE what he really was. He was an alcholic and he beat his wife, of course this has nothing to do with what he is on the field.
Either accept the fact Favre is not the most beloved or don't ask the question!!

No. Anyone remember Favre being addicted to pain killers? I sure do and he hasn't won anything since. Michael Jordan overrated and over hyped? Are you serious. I bet if you had a poll for the greatest and beloved American sportsman ever Brett Favre wouldn't even be mentioned. One reason is because he is a football player. And football is not really about individuals and stats, it's about a team and winning.

I did not know someone who is known for playing bad football for many seasons is considered the greatest . Beloved yes, greatest no. He makes more mistakes than touchdowns and gets way more credit than he deserves. No matter how good or great you are, there is always someone better...........I might get a low rating for my comments but the that is the truth. Sports Media either overly ostracizes a situation/ person or overhypes a mediocre player, whatever sells. Yes, he may be a nice person and has stayed on one team for most of his career to win a Superbowl, it doesn't however make him the greatest. What has he done that is even significant to winning a Superbowl lately? There is no greatest ever, no such thing.

Doesn't seem overhyped to me. But Farve is one of the greatest QBs to play the game.

Why would he be considered the greatest and beloved American sportsman ever? I'd say Dan Marino is more loved over him. I dont see how Brett Favre would be considered this, no offence. He may the records but look how many seasons he has played.

OK, he's rich, he's HOT and he can (or well, he used to could) play some damn good football. He really is a good person too. So yeah!
Stonewall, you silly! You haven't watched much golf lately, have you. Tiger is quite the athelete. He is in great shape physically. I don't really "dig" golf, but even golf beats 80's B movie reruns on local TV.

I think Favre has a lot of clas to go with his skill. There are other QBs (Brady) who have no class. (Romo). they come from the school of WRs with the way that they act. Favre has an old school style with an old school attitude.
he also doesn't get hurt so that adds to his stamina and legend. you are right in that he is a symbol of what football used to be and what it should be again.

I like him because he has fun. Even when he's older, he's still jumping up and down when he throws a TD and picks up teammates, etc. He loves the game he plays. So yes, he is one of the most beloved to play the game.

In a word NO.........Fans forget all the booze and pills that almost wrecked him all too quickly.......Talk to people in Green Bay who have pulled him off the floor in bars when he was into his pills and drink.......He's not what sports is about..........Give him a world of credit for turning his life around and making a super comeback this year.........That's as far as it goes.........There are many others who can lay claim to being what sports is all about.......Clean cut players who set records, like Montana, Jordan, Woods, Jeter, David Ortiz just to name just a few recent ones...........CAT
