Humans can't drink salt water because the kidneys can only make urine that is less salty than salt water. Therefore, to get rid of all the excess salt taken in by drinking salt water, you have to urinate more water than you drank, so you die of dehydration.

b/c seawater is about 3 times as salty as human blood and thats more than our body can safely metablize, too much salt would leave our cells dehydrated and could lead to seizures, brain damage. Much of this salt would be carried to the kidneys, which would be overwhelmed and it would shut down. Thats why we don;t drink seawater.

Humans cannot drink seawater because it is too salty. If humans drink seawater, it goes into our cells and the salt will make the cells expand and eventually burst. If you drink seawater while lost at sea, your chances of dying increase.

To begin with, start with thinking where its been. This is water that is exposed to fecal excrement, acid rain water, dead remains, etc. that are not so good for humans. This then combined with multiple organisms inside the water that cannot be digested by humans, or are malignant. Also, the salt content usually hovers around 2 or 3 % salt, which may not seem like a lot, but is a huge amount for a person to digest, and will quickly dehydrate you.

The salt dehydrates you and can kill you faster than if you don't drink anything. People have actually been lost at sea, drank the water, and then had visions and went crazy.

Because the salt will pull the water out of the cell and kill you. Also, the sodium in the salt will make your heart have arrhythmias and you will have a heart attack and die.
