The nonmetal oxide, CO2, reacts with the metal oxide, CaO, to give CaCO3. would you expect boric oxide to react similarly with CO2?

I wouldnt think so because boron isnt even a metal so it wouldnt be considered a metal oxide....but im hoping theres a better explanation

You're right. CO2 and B2O3 do not react.
