if you have only been on birth control for 8 months, it won't take you six months to get pregnant after stopping them. The six month lag usually happens in women that have taken the pills for years and years. Don't be surprised if you concieve within a month.

it can take a while to conceive after using birth control pills. now that you have stopped taking them, just be patient.
For most women it is only 4 - 6 weeks but with other women it can be as long as three months before normal ovulation returns.

Hi, there.

After stopping use of birth control pills, the amount of time it takes for you to conceive can be different. I think that it may have something to do with how long you've been on birth control. Most likely, it depends on the type of pill you are using, as well as how long you've been on the pill. There are different formulations of pills with different combinations of hormones (progestin-only or combined progestin & estrogen). The best thing you can do is to call your doctor or his/her nurse, and ask how quickly you will return to fertility after discontinuing your particular type of pill. I think that it's easier to return to fertility taking progestin-only pills. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with which brands in the U.S. are progestin-only, but your doctor, nurse, or your pharmacist should be able to tell you.

Hope that helps.

It is recommended you wait six months after discontinuing birth control. In other words, you should use another form of birth control for that period of time. You can conceive sooner, but it is not recommended. Discuss this further with you GYN.
