Why are homes in seattle so expensive?
Is it because of all the microsoft employees. Making too much money?

They aren't that much more expensive than any other large city.

The price of housing in Seattle sky-rocketed in the late 1980's due to the combined success of Boeing and Microsoft. Many people in California sold their homes for large profits and moved to the area. There were actually bidding wars for homes, real estate agents going door to door begging people to sell. Huge sellers market which pushed prices up, along with mortgages such that market was permanently elevated.

Now Seattle is priced comparable to other urban markets. If you think Seattle is expensive, try San Francisco Bay area, New York or Boston.

Because we have a solid economy and strong job market. I have to say that we are middle of the road compared to other west coast cities like San Diego or Portland.
