Do the leafs face to much pressure playing home games?

Last year they had a horrible home record and a great away record, it seems pretty similar this year, thoughts?

LITY- well, it wasn't like that at the beginning, most of the season was good away games and bad home games, then they picked up the slack on home games and started sucking road games.. it nearly evened out in the end, but its still not right.

and i know i said record, but thats not necissarily what i meant, its also the way they played, they were lazy and very passive at home, almost like they were nervous, when they were away it was like a good energy drink.

This isn't an old problem Chris. Playing hockey in Toronto has been easier for the visitors than the Leafs for years. Consider that the majority of players in the NHL are from Canada, playing in Toronto means playing in front of Mom & Dad and the whole famned damily. I lost count of how many times the Leafs lost a game to a team who rode a hot goalie for the win. Playing on Saturday night is a big pump up and I've seen guys stop 40 shots to beat the Leafs when every other start the same goalie had for the past month was average at best. And of course for the Leafs we have the distractions of media and family and fans all wanting a piece of their time. All of them judging every move you make on the ice. Toronto may be hockey mad but you'll go mad playing pro hockey there.

I don't know why the leafs play so bad at home games. It could be pressure of the home crowd or maybe the crowd is so quiet that it doesn't feel like a home game to the leafs. They also play bad against the Caps, they always seem to score a lot of goals against us.

Last year our home record was 21-15-5
Last year our away record was 19-16-6

LITY is right, we had a better home record last year.

Near the beginning of last year we did have a better away record but near the end it was the opposite. Too bad the leafs can't be good at home for all year long where it counts and not near the end where they are fighting for a playoff spot.

Oh, yeah, they've always said that they face so much pressure playing at home. In other words, they hate playing at the ACC. I would too if every little move of mine was being booed at. lol

Hops: Yeah, it is a real "shite-hole." Human decency does not exist here.

LITY: I can't believe I'm questioning the hockey...god? Pope? Hockey's Dalai Lama? But are you sure? I could've sworn that the Leafs had the better record on the road than at home last season. It was on the news for quite a bit.

Chris...............the Leafs were above 0.500 at home last year
They were below 0.500 on the road
Your question doesn't hold water

The year they drafted Wendel Clark first overall was the last year they had a better road record than home record.

Thus far this season it seems that way. Tonight is a prime example of that. They just need to bench Toskala for good. Bring Pogge up as Raycrofts fall guy and go from there.

Maybe they're still wallowing over the loss of the Gardens. I know I am. Death to the Real Canadian Superstore.
