Ok...This is the beginning of a great life lesson for you. If you want to be a artist, a real artist, then you will have to deal with this type of grind the rest of your life. As you get older you will develop more friends and have a better educational base in the arts, but now...now is your proving point. Can you get through this and still want to do what you do? Can you let it roll off your shoulders and go on? I myself am a artist in the real world. A actual working artist. It is not that easy, nor is it always beneficial to rely entirely on emotion...there is a beauty in logic if you look for it.

You seem to be really bothered by some family stuff between you and your mom. I'm sure the real problem is there somewhere, and will be resolved with time. Mothers and daughters often lock horns.

But I don't know why you think logic and art are enemies. Maybe you've been imbibing some Hollywood notions about artists that aren't really true. Even artists have to live on the same physical plane as the rest of the world.

Magical thinking doesn't get anyone very far in life, not even in their imaginations. You have to deal with what is, not what you'd like it to be.

Here is a little logic for your mom from a fourth generation working artist. There is nothing in her house that was not designed by an artist after it was engineered. Also logic with out understanding is just a cover up for fear. The fact is two things that are opposites can be true at the same time. What you focus your attention on is the only thing you can control. Artists are perfectly capable of making a living.Check out The Art of Making IT by Jack White. Beatrice Woods the mama of Dada worked every day until she died. More importantly she lived the way she wanted too. You will never be sad enough to make another person happy. You will never be sick enough to make another person well. You will never be poor enough to make another person rich. Your moms happiness is up to her and your future career will never change that. In the end it only you will be living your life and living with the consequences of it. You do! As for hot lines try searching Meet Ups for artists groups in your city. Its free and it will help connect you to other creative people. Lots of great people had parents who did not get them. How much that upsets you is up to you though. Getting you and loving you are not the same thing. You don't get her but I can tell you love her and even admire her intelligence. The truth is that while its nice to have our parents understand us its only as important as we make it. My father is a Jehovah's Witness and is in no way creative. It took time but now we agree to disagree and actually have a lot of fun together. Obviously we don't talk about certain things that will start a fight. I am never going to change his mind and he will never change mine. Its ok though were both happy and thats what matters. If you are really not sure how to get from being frustrated to peaceful I am including a link to something that helped me and maybe it will help you.
Best of luck and take care of your head there is art waiting to get out.

Creative people live in a different world (it's perfectly ok). Stay creative, do what you enjoy doing. Tell her she should be glad you've got an artistic bent because it lets you see more of the world that way.

you're merely approximately there. no longer quite, yet merely approximately there. you're nevertheless questioning of the international and the universe contained in the container, a container created via faith's layout. technology and the desire to realize real comprehension won't be able to be got here across interior the direction of the romantic and subsequently fantastical musings of the religious. you ought to be waiting to interrupt unfastened and not be petrified of what others might label you so as to seek for what you have constantly sought.
