C is the correct answer. 1 1/2 - 2/3 can be converted into 3/2 - 2/3, if you multiply the denominators you'd get 9/6-4/6 which turns into 5/6, answer choice C.

C 5/6.

first must find common denominator I use 6.

1 3/6 - 4/6

Can't subtract 4/6 from 3/6.
So need to borrow, change 1 to 6/6; 6/6 + 3/6 = 9 /6

9/6 - 4/6 = 5/6

First, you put both into a common denominator...
So 1 1/2 =3/2...multiply the numerator and denominator by 3...=9/6
2/3...multiply the numerator and denominator by 2...=4/6
9/4 - 4/6=5/6
so the answer is C)
