Indeed, try it both ways and see if you get the same result:
½(16 - 10) = ½(8) = 4
now try it by distributing:
½(16) - ½(10) = 8 - 4 = 4

So multiplication *is* distributive over subtraction.

Problem 3:
8 + 2 * (36)

Multiplication takes precedence over addition so multiply first:
8 + 72

Then do the addition:
80
