In 1943 Jean Kutzer was promoted from 2nd LT. to 1st Lt to Capt. and was part of the 605th Tank Destoyer Battalion, Camp Hood, Texas

Find out his unit, for example if he was with the Gloucester regt. you could find out where the regiment was based at a particular time. It's a good idea to find out your fathers service number (his ID number), this will make the search a lot easier.
There are sites like the Royal British legion (in the UK) or the Veterans Association (the US).
