I went to my Aunts house in the beginning of July 2007 and i stubbed my toe on her Thick table leg. Ever since then the slightest touch to that toe will cause me unbelievable pain. I had it X-rayed and its not broken but it hurts. When my cat brushes againest it, it hurts like Heck. Its the toe on my Right foot. The one next to the Big toe. Does anyone have any advice or Ways to make it better and heal? Im 15 if my age has something to do with it.

You may have broken the base of the nail (the part under the skin) and it may have gotted infected or may have just cut into your skin

ok, is is red hot swollen any sign of pus and can you bend it. or any broken skin on it... if you have these symptoms then it could be infected as these are the cardinal signs of infection.
and if so, go back to GP for antibiotics and dressings.

If not then you could have badly bruised the bones..however, note that fractures do not often show up immeidately on x-ray and may be worth repeating an x-ray....

As a podiatrist my advice is to use micropore and tape above and below the joint of the injured toe to the 3rd toe (to use it like a splint) this will give it support while it has chance to heal. Also you should try to pad underneath the splinted toes to releave the weightbearing on it, and pad it it in shoes to protect it from further damage while it has a chance to heal.
use painkillers as necessary neurofen or something similar and ice packs are affective too daily 3-4 times a day.
if the pain continues for more than 6 weeks consult your doctor again for further advice or a local podiatry centre.

What did the doctor tell you, other than it's not broken? Was it sprained? Did you injure the joint or a tendon? It's been three months - that's too long for a toe to keep hurting after an injury. I would call the doctor and tell him/her that your toe still hurts - especially since you describe the pain as "unbelievable"! Redness? Swelling? Other symptoms?

It is possible that you have a toenail jammed in there? Ingrown toenails cause excruciating pain, perhaps the injury pushed a toenail in and now it keeps growing in? If so, you will have to lift that toenail out and put cotton underneath it and soak it in epsom salt water.

It is not normal for your toe to hurt just from a cat brushing up against it. It has been about 3 months since you stubbed it which is plenty of healing time. I know you don't want this answer, but you really should have it checked out again. Preferably by a foot doctor. I think something may have been overlooked the first time.

Oh dear, hope it gets better soon. Toes are very delicate and if injured can hurt for ages. It could be ripped ligaments, torn tendon etc which will not show on x-ray alone. Try placing some cotton wool underneath it for support, and also, if you can get hold of comfrey (this is a plant), boil the leaves for a few mins, let it cool off, soak a small bandage in the comfrey water, place a cooled leaf on your toe, cover with the small bandage. Comfrey has marvellous healing properties especially where bruises, sprains, fractures etc are concerned. Hope this helps.........oh, and dont wear tight shoes/trainers etc.

Hi. I just wondered if you were Diabetic at all? Because sometimes you can get Neuropathy in the big toe I know I do, and it is quite painful. Or perhaps you might want to consult with a doctor that deals with blood circulation and perhaps look into a Doppler Study, just to make sure it could never be a blood clot. Best of luck to you!

Hmm... I feel your pain... I broke my pinky toe (from stubbing it also!!) one time and had to tape it together with the one next door. I also get infected toes sometimes... i know it sounds gross, but it's when the nail gets hit and starts growing into the skin, maybe thats what happened?? I would go to a foot doctor if you already didn't and they'll be able to figure out what's causing so much pain.

I hope this helps, and your toe feels better!!!! :-(

The only advice I can give is to 'buddy-tape' it. Use first aid tape to tape it to the #3 toe. That will help immobilize it while it heals and keep you from smagging it on something else. Keeop the tape loose enough that it doesn't bind when you put a shoe on...

maybe it shifted and went back into place, it will take a long time to heal. i bruised my foot really bad about 4 weeks ago, and the bruise is all gone, but it still hurts really bad if i try to wear flip flops (which is what i was wearing when i hurt it). patience is probably the only thing to do if you already have seen a doctor. try wrapping up your foot and taking it easy on it for a few weeks, even months. it needs to heal.

Doubt age has a problem. You might have an ingrown toenail. Your nail probably broke when you stubbed it, and it grew back the wrong way.

If it is red around your nail, it's probably infected.

Well it really sounds like it is fractured. I would get a second opionon on the x-ray. Sometimes doctors miss things. I don't believe your age has anything to do with it though.
