the term for when you feel sad because the people you love are sad, and they bring you down weather you like it or not...please don't say 'empathy"

Try pathos, sympathy, compassion or pity, I still like empathy best though.

I agree with dcc, I think the best word for what you are describing is 'empathy'. You could just say 'shared feelings' if for some reason you don't like the word 'empathy'.
