The modern-day Republican Party panders to the racists and the bigots and, for decades, has actively sought their votes and gotten them. Look up the Republican Southern Strategy to see some of their methods.

The Republican Party of Lincoln's day was a noble, progressive party but things have changed.

NO ! However based on your statement of "historical voting" ., how is it that the Liberals had control of Congress for over 35 of the last 45 years ; and yet the people that you assume are bias` , the Republicans , have not had the power to be bias` or racist ? The minority of this country are still voting Liberal even though the Liberal representatives have promised them an " end to their problems " for 35 years , and the Liberals are still running on that same promise agenda , and the same problems are still there year in and year out , and the minority keeps voting for the Liberals that in 35 years have evidently solved nothing for them , as the Liberals running for office today are still saying they still exist today ? How do you figure that makes Republicans racist , as they are not the ones` promising the gold at the end of the rainbow to minorities ? How many times does one have to find out for themselves that there`s no gold at the end of the rainbow before they wise up ?

Not nearly as racist as the Democrats.

For instance, there is a Ku Klux Klan member in the Senate. Which party does he belong to? What committees does he lead?

The Black Caucus is also a racist organization in the House of Representatives. What party do their members belong to?

I do not know what historical trend in voting you are referring to, but based on history and the performance of the Democrat Party today, I would argue that Democrats are by far the most racist and disgusting party.

Did you know for instance that Bull Conner, the sherriff who used the firehoses during the sixties on blacks marching for Civil Rights was a Democrat? Or Governor Wallace who refused to let blacks integrate into the University of Alabama-what party was he?

The Republicans freed the blacks and abolished slavery in the 19th century. You have some reading to do.

Interesting question, lets look at the historical record on voting.
The GOP was established to abolish slavery.
The first black governor in the country was a republican (Louisana, 1868)
The GOP passed the amendment that ended slavery and established their citizenship.
The GOP authorized freed slaves the right to vote (men only)
The GOP sent troops into the south, twice, to protect black rights. (1866-1876, 1956-1960)
The GOP voted to give women the right to vote (side note)
LBJ gave credit to the GOP for the passage of the 1964 civil rights act. Most dems voted against it.
Look at the other side;
The Dems repeatedly voted to preserve slavery.
The Dems opposed black sufferage (voting rights)
Woodrow Wilson was a segrationist and showed the first movie in the White House (Birth of a Nation, the saga of the KKK)
The south was controlled by democrats and the KKK
Democratic segregationists ran their own party in 1948. yes, they were forced to join with republicans afterwards but they didn't bring their values with them. The dems didn't want them back.
The majority of race riots occurred in democratically controlled cities.
The majority of dems voted against the 1964 civil rights act including Al Gore and William Fulbright (Bill Clinton's acknowleged mentor)
In 2000 Andrew Cuomo pulled out of the New York primary because his opponent was black. He said that he couldn't use normal dem tactics on a black man.
In 2000 Micheal Steele, a black man, was called an oreo and a nazi by the supporters of Kathleen Kennedy Townsend a democrat.

There are many other examples.

After you read all of these answers I would ask you to make a thoughtful intelligent statement concerning what you've learned so we can all learn.

Thank you Barry, I do my best.

I think the human race in it's entirety tends to be racist - and Republicans just fail to consider alternatives to gut reaction, as in anything they do -

racism is an easy tag-a-long with xenophobia and other fears, and just as irrational - it just takes some balls and straight thinking to realize how dumb these guttural emotions are, and that as humans we are able to aspire toward loftier ideals - it's just that those with the conservative mindset fail to do so either out of plain ignorance or stubbornness

ok now you do know this question is itsself stereotypical? lol

my answer is a bit also~ he he he

In the past, no.
Now, yes.
Caging list in Ohio and Florida to disenfranchise black voters. Research it. The republicans were behind it all.

No! Just because "blacks" are the shills of the D party doesn't mean that R are racist. I actually think D are more raceist because they want to keep all the minorities on the government take!

No, they dislike everyone equally. So racism does not apply to conserves.

BTW, the GOP was the party of Abraham Lincoln; they freed the slaves. It's odd that libs pander to minority voters now. That's bass-ackwards IMHO.

No. And I think it's unfair for people to say that. I think those who point the finger usually are the ones to blame.

Must have hit a nerve!!!

Actually, I find the democrats to be the racists. I think the whole idea of affirmative action, a democratic idea, is racist. Just give everyone the same opportunity and evaluate every individual on their own merits. Democrats want to give every stupid minority preference over more qualified people, solely because they are a minority.
