"A Ghost of A Chance"

Strange things are said to happen on Halloween. None so strange as what occurs in the old West town of Dodge City every year. I have seen this myself so I know it to be true.....
Lock your doors, draw your curtains and cozy up on your couch as I recount the events of Halloween, 2006.

On the spur ( yuk!yuk!) of the moment, I decided to visit this famous town. I choose Halloween for a purpose . I wanted to see the magic I had read about. .....And I wanted to be alone.....

As soon as I walked down Front Street, I felt my heart racing. THIS was the street that Marshal Matt Dillon had traversed, countless times. It was THIS street that Sunshine had galloped down in a flurry to see her darling Matt. I laughed out loud as I envisioned her screaming "Hee Haw, MattBaby, I looooooooooove you!!"
I looked all around.....There was the merchantile, Newly's gun shop, the bank and Doc's office.....Oh, wonderful, wonderful Doc. Next I saw the famous Long Branch Saloon......Good ol' Miss Kitty. I walked inside and marveled at the old piano, bar and tables and chairs. It was EXACTLY the way it had been in circa 1873.
Then I walked across the street to the jail ...... U.S.Marshal Matt Dillon....Hmmmmmm. What a man. I have read about him all my life and I felt honored to be standing in his office.
I was so exhausted from the plane trip and from all the excitement, I lay down on a cot just off the main room to catch my breath and to rest for a few minutes Then it hit me!! Oh,my!! I was in MATT'S bed!! Well, at least the bed he used to sleep on , before he moved in with Sunshine. Ohhhhh, Matt.

I was almost asleep when I heard something. I opened my eyes and listened carefully. My heart was pounding so hard it was difficult to hear anything else! I tried to calm my nerves. There!! There was the sound again! I jumped up and ran to the door. It was music coming from across the street.
I actually shook my head....I must have looked like a cartoon character!! I looked around me and could barely believe my eyes. I saw the shadowy outlines of people!! The townsfolk of Dodge!! I followed the strains of the music and it led me through the swinging doors of the Long Branch. "The Yellow Rose Of Texas" could be heard from the piano!!!

As I stood there, totally mesmerized and a wee bit frightened, I felt a presense next to me. ...A very STRONG presense. I knew instantly that it was ........
