I am sick of my teacher making homophobic comments in class. He also allows other students to make gay slurs without any dicipline. I don't want to get him fired, but I also don't want to confront him personally about it.
Today he was eating pink M&M's and he said, "I feel really gay now." And he also said, "There is nothing wrong with being gay, as long as you are happy. HAHAHA!" <---He said that was a pun....?.?.?
It is annoying. I hate it. What can I do without having to confront him, or get him fired??

I am not exactly on the Principals "good side" either. I have been forcing the school to make a GSA, and he doesn't like me very much. ( I got a lawyer and the ACLU involved.... )

About his comment "There is nothing wrong with being gay, as long as you are happy" was basically saying that being homosexual is wrong. He was referring to the dated definition of gay. Here are the many definitions...
1. having or showing a merry, lively mood: gay spirits; gay music.
2. bright or showy: gay colors; gay ornaments.
3. given to or abounding in social or other pleasures: a gay social season.
4. licentious; dissipated; wanton: The baron is a gay old rogue with an eye for the ladies.
5. homosexual.
6. of, indicating, or supporting homosexual interests or issues: a gay organization.
–noun 7. a homosexual person, esp. a male.
–adverb 8. in a gay manner.
I can understand you not wanting to get your teacher in trouble, maybe you like him and don't want to offend him by being the bad guy, but the truth is that he obviously doesn't care about how he is treating you.
Though he may not know that you are gay, he is being extremely offensive on purpose. He is teaching intolerance in a world where this type of thought is very much less than acceptible. There is absolutely no excuse for teaching hate .
He is NOT a nice guy, and he is NOT worthy of your respect. If you don't want to turn him in for his actions because you are afraid of being outed, then send an anonymous letter (typed) to the school principal or dean stating how the instructor is teaching intolerance. If his actions do not change, call your local chapter of LGBT and hand it to them. I'm sure they won't let it go on any longer.
You are worth so much more than the words coming out of that man's mouth.
Good luck

Try confronting the teacher in question and tell him how you feel. If you dont like the response you get try going to someone else who works at the school who you think would be on your side. It should be reported to the principal/board anyway just to say you followed proper channels or whatever.

Keep a record of what he says and when he says it and why he says it. Make this list known to school administrators - yes, go over the principal's head. Your teacher is being painfully inappropriate and he is sending the wrong kind of message to his students. This is just irrespinsible. He might think it's funny, but it's not. Don't let him get away with this kind of behavior.

So the principal doesn't like you much? That can also mean he has RESPECT for you. Make your interest known, anyway, one of his other jobs is to stop that kind of nonsense from going on during class.
That teacher sounds like a pill. He won't get fired too quickly, a good talking (first) should suffice.
Be brave.
Best wishes.

1) "There is nothing wrong with being gay, as long as you are happy. HAHAHA!" <---He said that was a pun....?.?.? Referes to the fac that Gay once meant happy.
2) His is very ignorant. And I think you should send him anonymous typed letter telling him how his comments make you feel. And if it doesn't change he deserves to get fired. Theres no room in the school system for a prick like him.

Whether you want him to be fired or not, he certainly should not be working with teens if there is any possibility he will be discriminating on the basis of sexuality or any other basis. He has crossed the line. If your principal is unsupportive, then he, too, has crossed the line. Sounds like they both need to go. They wouldn't last fifteen minutes here.

Tell him to quit it with the gay jokes, or talk to an administrator at your school. Don't try and get him fired, but if it guess worse, or he says things like f*g or queer in a derogatory sense you need to say something.
>>For your GSA, take it to the school board. Make a real case about it, they will for sure allow it, don't worry.

Honestly, talk to your principial. People would sue his a** if he said anything against black people, so jump his case for gays. even for allowing that kind of speech in his room. My US history teacher heard this one kid say, "that's gay" in a negative way, and he totally snapped (He is straight and very Christian) and made him leave the class and then he went out in the hall and yelled at him for like five minutes.
That is how a teacher should act! Woohoo Mr. Lavine!

Write an anonymous letter. If you still don't get satisfaction, talk to the principal. If still unstatified, write the Board Of Education!
Good luck!

I'd talk to your guidance conselour. Make sure you tell them you don't want to get him fired, but make sure that you tell them how offensive he's being. As a teacher, he should promote tolerance. I had a teacher kind of like that once, only he wasn't that bad. If you can't ignore him, then you need to take a step to insure he is fair to his students.
