FYI: I don't support either of these two.

I reject Barack after reading his book, and reject Huckabee because he is a creationist.

This question is not meant as an endorsement but rather asking why they are picking up points in recent polls?

lol... well I'm glad you have good judgment and reject them..

I'm not sure that Obama is gaining in the polls, but I know that Huckabee is..

I think this time around the selection of candidates is not all that great, not that it was any better last time, people are relying on surface impressions.. and not taking voting records into consideration... I have found that both these candidates advocate one thing on stage but their records prove otherwise..

I am betting that Obama will get the Democratic nomination. Clinton is completly un-electable at the national level and has way too much baggage. The Republican nomination however, is a hard one to predict. Guliani is already loosing most of his thunder. The Republican party that is now so tightly controlled by the religious right has no room for moderates. I am betting that either Huckabee or Thompson will recieve the nomination. If it ends up becoming an Obama vs Thompson or Obama vs Huckabee, I almost gaurantee that Obama will win.

Even the omnipotent endorsement by arguably the most powerful woman in television didn't give Obama a significant edge - the man is running a moot campaign.
If they are truly picking up more support - real support, not just biased poll numbers - it's probably because people are starting to carefully listen to Hillary and her agenda - hopefully, this won't turn into another "lesser of two evils" election.

I think Barack is because people are tired of hearing about Hillary... I think on the con side Huckabee isn't Giuliani. Kinda the same deal.

Obama because he's not Hillary Clinton, and I suppose Huckabee because he's a right wing preacher man (loon).

The front runners for both parties are not very trustworthy, or electable.
