What are the different views between the two parties on legalizing the use of medicinal marijuana? Is one party for it? Another against? Are they pretty mixed? I am not looking for your individual view, but I am wanting to look at the parties as a whole.

We have medical marijuana in my state and it doesn't seem to be a party issue. The idea was introduced by a Republican governor and adopted by a majority Democratic legislature. The debate in my state wasn't very passionate and wasn't divided by party affiliation.

There are more than two political parties. Also, there are some in each party who want to legalize it. The Republican Liberty Caucus is a group of libertarian Republicans who generally support legalizing it. Also many democrats support legalizing it as well. Additionally both the Libertarian Party and the Green Party support legalizing it.

As our Governatore stated, "It is only a leaf;" it is not a drug.

There are Republicans and Democrats who support the legalization of marijuana, as there are people from both parties who are against it.

I believe more Democrats are for it than Republicans.

Obama is not an Idiot or the Antichrist. I have to say about his paster that the republicans did him so wrong because that man is leading a people that no one else will. I am one of those people. Im a single, black, female. Im educated, classy, respectful, hardworking and a democrat. Im a middle class citizen barely making it out here. I look at white kids (dont take this more racial than it should be, its no secret that POOR citizens = majority black and RICH citizens = majority white) are handed life on a silver platter...I know plenty who have not put in anywhere near as much work as I have and life is just easier. Republicans think of minority groups as just that minorities...we dont mean anything but a paycheck to those people. if they have to sacrifice us for a phat check, guess what, we are just a number in line. Im Democratic, I agree with self defense, and the right to bear arms. I disagree with abortion, pre-marital sex, and drugs. death penalty, and DICTATORSHIP, which is what this country kinda is. If you watched FOX news channel when the pastor issue first came up, they had that man on the show and talked down to him like the ****** they think he is...they they told him WHAT NOT TO PREACH IN HIS CHURCH. Dont tell me about the constitution because the government ***** up the constitution to make it sound right in THIS AND THAT PARTICULAR SITUATION. Well if we are all equal why do I get looked at funny when Im with a group of white people? Im not ghetto, im not about to rob anybody. Why do 5 grams of crack cocain (which is dominant in the black community) get a person a felony but 499 grams of powder cocain (dominant in the white community, which also makes crack and a **** load of it) is just a misdemeanor???? Why should we truly even go by the constitution when minorities were NOT considered HUMANE or CITIZENS back then? I could go on forever love, you are young...too young to pick sides on this...if your parents are republican and they told you that obama was the antichrist or democrats are any less than republicans, then this is proof that humans are habitual creatures...cuz mommy said so... also I must add, that the comment above is correct. you have the right to your opinion about the world as you see it. As you get older you are going to realize that the world is different through the eyes of a adult and a child. Please, just do research. And One thing that I do to clear things up to me is try to prove people RIGHT. if you try to prove them right then it's easy to catch them in lies. try it. prove the republicans to be the upstanding government you've learned to love so much. When you find fault...

I would say that about 1/3 of Republicans would pass up the issue altogether . Another 1/3 would be for it and 1/3 against it . ( my opinion ) Hard to really know for sure .

I would say about 1/4 of Democrats would pass up the issue altogether . The remainder of them would be split about 50/50 for it and against it . To know for sure you would have to ask all of them in a poll ...lol :)

I'm a conservative republican and I believe in cases where marijuana is the best to relieve pain in cancer patients...I say why not??....its not as toxic as most of the other forms of pain relief....and for glaucoma patients...but I do think it would have to be STRICTLY controlled with sever fines if abused.....

i would think that individual views would be the only ones stated as i have never heard an 'official' policy on this from either party and i think would they would vary from individual to individual depending on circumstances of the people.

it does help with chemo and nausea.

all our politicians are pretty much out of it, but Im in favor of legalizing. alchohol is the most dangerous and addictive drug their is yet many of our leaders are reformed ( we hope) drunks and worse. legalizing marijuana would seriously hurt organized crimes and street gangs since it would be price regulated and taxed. you would only have to punish the consequences of it's use same as we do with booze.

I say legalize ALL drugs and criminalize dependence. We are a "free" country but we are not allowed to make bad choices? Legalize the drugs, regulate and tax it, taking the profit from the criminals, or making them legit, either way we boost up taxes, build better prisons and put together treatment for addiction.

I'm a liberal, not a democrat.
I believe it should be legal to use medical marijuana. It has less side affects than most prescription pain meds.
