Yes. A portable dance floor can be set up outside on grass providing the grass is both dry and level. Soggy lawn will make for a sinking, shifting dance floor that could be hazardous. If the weather calls for rain, the dance floor could be set up underneath a party tent. I am a professional entertainer and have performed at many outside events where portable, modular dance floors were used.

Know that if you leave the dance floor in place for days on end the grass can be permanently damaged. A day or two should pose no problem.

Of course. I was at a wedding on the lawn outside of a restaurant last weekend and they set up a dance floor made of interlocking pieces with a wood surface. After the wedding, they just took it apart and hauled it away.

I don't know why you couldn't....high heels may have to be abandoned for dancing, but I certainly don't think it will hurt the grass.
