A movie with big dogs!?

A co-worker told me about a movie with giant dogs as the plot and there was a scene where a dog and a girl got impaled together? He couldn't remember the title. Thanks if you do.

the dogs aren't actually giant though.. they were mutated by scientists.. but the mutation wasn't size.. (it's part of the plot).. The impaling scene is exact however.. it was a decent movie..
