When I was young, my mom used to wax our hardwood floors by pouring some clear liquid (Brite?) on them and spreading it with a Swiffer-type thing. It made them VERY shiny, and she didn't have to remove it w/mineral spirits, or buff it or anything. I can't find out what kind of product this was - or if it even exists anymore. I don't want to use paste wax, or a buffer machine, just want shiny wood floors.

There are liquid waxes available still, at least a few years ago. Contact a janitorial supply.

I don't know what products would be available in your country but years ago in NZ, I used Beeswax on my wooden floors. I know it took physical work to apply it and polish it up, but the end results were fantastic./I could wear my stiletto heels on the floor and they never left a mark. The last I heard from the people who now live in the house, the lounge floor is still the polished wood and looks as good today as it did 40yrs ago.
