I have court wednesday for driving without a licence! I'm 18! I've never been arrested or anything! So this is my first court! What is it like? Is it like on TV? and should I be really nervous?

It's certainly not as heated as that television stuff. Show up, shut up. Approach the bench when you are called. Speak clearly so that the judge can hear you. Don't talk over anyone else (the reporter can't type the transcript if you do). No one's going to embarrass you incredibly.

If you have figured out that you "blew it", don't be afraid to let it be known. This may help your situation. Address the judge as "your honor", "maam" and "sir", but listen more than you talk. This will go a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng way.

Good luck kiddo, hope you pull it off.

It's not like on a TV -- it's much duller, and with a lot more procedural steps involved.

Just be calm -- answer honestly -- be respectful -- and the judge will explain anything that you don't understand.
