When rounding, look at the decimal place the book asks you to round to and then look at hte digit to the right. If it is 5 or above, increase the digit you were asked to round by one. If its 4 or below, keep the digit you were asked to round the same and get rid of all the digits to the right of it.

9.56303, nearest hundredth
the 6 is in the hundredths place, and the number to the right of it is a 3, so you would keep the number the same and your answer would be 9.56

8.45776 (I made it up) to the nearest tenth
4 is in the tens place, and there is a 5 next to it, so it should round up. Your answer would be 8.5

I hope I helped, good luck!

9.56

The hundredths place is the second number to the right of the decimal. You don't round up because the 3 immediately following the 6 is not greater than five.
