It (the Constitution) is mainly an outdated, imperfect and contrary document which does not meet the needs of a modern nation or provide for a balanced division of powers and resources between the Commonwealth and the States.

I disagree.

The Constitution itself provides for a great balance -- the federal govt handles a few specific things and the states deal with the rest. And while imperfect -- so is every other work of humankind -- but the Constitution covers all the main points, and can be amended if there are serious problems.

The problem isn't with the Constitution -- it's with the federal govt using every loophole and excuse to deny, ignore and work around the limits imposed by the Constitution.

Changing the document or replacing it wouldn't help -- because the plain text says that what the federal govt is doing is wrong. The solution is to fix the federal govt, and get it to start following the rules that the Constitution already includes.

It is never outdated; it is the founding philosophy of this country and the problem has become that many do not know nor understand it's meaning because we don't teach the fundamentals the founding fathers intended any more. Many politicians ignore the constitution and we are in a state now that isn't that far from what originally caused the revolution in the first place. Many of the people in our government have forgotten that they are there to serve the people..not to "rule" the people. A modern nation doesn't mean that the principles that founded it are outdated; quite the contrary. It is being interpreted by a total degradation of morals and ideals and a total lack of caring. The Golden Rule is still the basis for much of our growth...we have become more and more socialistic, yet liberal to a fault. We have forgotten the battles and sacrifices made so that we could live free. I bleed red, white and blue and the original consitution has been amended beyond common sense...which we use very little of anymore. I could go on for days about this...it's about time we took a look at why and how this nation was built and grew and re-address the tenets of The Consitution of the United States of America.

Not totally...there are some things that seem outdated, but a lot of it still rings true for today
