As science becomes more sophisticated, researchers develop coherent theories about the workings of matter and energy. These ideas were not always on the right track, despite extensive initial evidence. For example, "the opinion of many scientists was that heat energy and work energy were different types of universal fluids that flowed from object to object as they interacted. They also believed that certain interactions required no exchange of energy at all." While these theories could be explained through evidence available at the time, they were eventually proven wrong by further discoveries. Science is not fact, but rather our attempt to best explain something with the limitations we have with regards to technology, etc.

You know that plenty of people realize this fact. The beauty of Science is that its not an exact science like Math is. As technology evolves, so will the answer of any question out there.

Unfortunately, what we see happening is that when a scientist makes a discovery we take that discovery as a true fact and never doubt what they found. Yet, what will happen is that there are several other scientists studying the same fact and will, in turn, disprove the other.

Well yes. Science is always changing for the better, because technology is constantly being improved and developed.

In the medieval times, people could hardly tell you about the quantum structure of an atom. They did the best they could with the technology they had then. Just as we are today. To be honest, I really don't see what the issue is.

Well, that's the beauty of the scientific method...it's self-correcting. If somebody makes a mistake today, that mistake will be revealed and corrected later. It's also why astrology and things like that are not scientific; there's no mechanism in place to make corrections if they're proven to be wrong (which they frequently are).

Neoga Illinois...good luck at life with that attitude! Laziness...yep, that always pays off in the long run.

You are wrong. One of the main requirements for ANY new theory - it must be consistent with previous results and observations. The concept of "fluids" in your example allowed Sadi Carnot to determine the efficiency of a heat engine. The more precise theories were built upon those results.

i dont realize it. but i dont care if science gets disproved or not. i dont even know science. i just post my homework problems, wait for someone to solve them and then copy their solution and turn it in and get a grade. im not the only one; just the only honest one.
