I decided to get up the nerve and file for a restraining order against my crazy ex-boyfriend; it took me awhile to go through with it. I wasn't granted the restraining order but assigned a hearing with me and my ex-boyfriend. I can't do it. I'm an emotional wreck and there is no chance I can go through with this. Anyone in the court sytem who may have an idea as to what I can possibly do to avoid this?

No -- other than the initial (pre-hearing) TRO -- the person you are seeking the order against has to be given the opportunity to be heard and to argue against the restraining order -- which means a hearing.

You have three options -- don't show up, which is effectively dropping the request -- show up yourself -- or get an attorney to show up for you.
