To get the varialbe m alone you need to add 6 to both sides

-10 + 6 = m - 6 + 6

The 6's on the right side cancel each other out

-4 = m

Check:

-10 = -4-6
-10 = -10

-10 = m - 6 (Add 6 to both sides to isolate m)
-10 + 6 = m - 6 + 6
-4 = m

If you plug -4 into the equation you can check your answer:
-10 = -4 - 6
-10 = -10
