What is a reasonable amount of money to spend on a travel backpack?

Well depends on how many days you plan on leaving for? Also,on what type of bag you want? But i would say if you want something good and that will last 120 is about around what you will pay.

The site below is for LL Bean. I normal base most of my travel stuff out their site because I know its good stuff and will last the long haul. If for some reason it doesn't then they will take it back and replace it.

I've bought many (MANY), and you should be able to get a really good quality one for between $25 & $50, depending on where you buy it. I have one that I've had since either '99 or 2000, that is ruined now, but only because I forgot to take the straps off, and an airport agent cut them off, and in the process cut part of the bag open. That one cost me about $20, but I don't remember where I bought it.

If you are only planning to be away for a couple of days then 15 pounds, if ur goin for longer id suggest somethin decent @ around 30 pounds, it can also depend on if you need it to be waterproof.

I bought one at my local thrift store for $2.00. It was just the right size and had an internal frame. If you are on a budget (and don't care how it looks) a thrift store may be a good place to start looking.
