littleblanket dont even go there last time she was even with her parents she screamed the whole time and people if you dont have respectable comments don't say anything cause i respect your opions(srry dont know how to spell the word) but you dont have to be rude when voicing them.
thanks for understanding

i talked to my parents and were probably going to keep dakota but change her middle name to something really pretty we will probably just call her kody or cody or we will nick name her real cute thanks for the people who voiced there comments in nice ways and for the other people why dont you just go away because no one wants to hear it

I dont know that at two you should change the first name of a child, if you want to add something then change the middle and last name but that might be to big of an adjustment for her. But if you're dead-set on doing it then I suggest:
Lily
Morgaine
Maddison
Savannah
Rose
Talia

For a middle name maybe go with Dakota so she doesn't lose her identity completely or keep her middle name. If you really want to change it then maybe a middle name after someone in your family to make her feel more special.
There is a little 4 yo redhead in our neighbourhood, she is very outgoing and just adorable. Her name is Lotti and it so suits her.

Dakota is a beautiful name, she is 2 years old already, I don't think you want to confuse her any more, she was to adjust to a new home & a new family.
It maybe hard on her if you give her a new name too.
Here are some names for redhead girls:
Scarlett Grace
Scarlett Hope
Scarlett Ruby
Scarlett Rose
Dakota Rose
Dakota Grace
Dakota Scarlett
Dakota Ruby
Congrats on the adoption...
Love your little miracle with all your heart...

If she's two and you feel you have to change her name, I would change it to something similar.
I like Daphne, personally. It's my favorite girl's name, but it's similar enough to Dakota that she shouldn't get too confused. Deirdre, Danica, Daria, Devorah, Deja, Robin, Poppy, Rowan, Ruby, and Sienna are all names I like that could be a good choice.
Also, if you do change her name, I would definitely use Dakota as her middle name. It's a part of her history, and it deserves a spot in her name.
Congrats on the adoption!

Don't change her name at the age of 2. The poor little girl will be confused.
But, if you insist, my name is Camille and I am a red head.
But I love:
Emma
Emmy
Emily
one of those they are so cute with the name Rose!
Emma Rose! awwwwwww
You could just have her name be Dakota Emma, or Dakota Rose, etc.

If you don't like the name Dakota, don't change it give her a nickname like Cody or something. Then give her middle name something sassy. Dakota is going to be all she has left of her origins, don't take that away from her. Without meaning to, you might be changing the pattern of her life by changing her name.

Wouldn't that confuse the child? At the age of 2, she is already used to the name Dakota. It's not like an animal, when they get a new home, they get a new name.
I wasn't trying to be rude... I was trying to help you understand how traumatic it could be for her and to show you that with a human child, you can't take away who she is, whether she likes where she comes from or not.
